Arrivals
I'm tying up loose ends because in about 12 hours, if all goes according to plan, I'll be putting on hospital scrubs to watch a baby (ours) get born. I hear if you do this six times you get a seventh one free, plus a car wash.
The timing is more common than I thought. Several friends are having babies this month and our own impending birth has reminded us of friends who have birthdays around this time. It's been the smoothest, most uneventful, most boring pregnancy we could have ever imagined, and we're so grateful that it's been this way. We've been really lucky, and the fortune cookie says our baby should be lucky, too.
On Thursday, I had a story in the newspaper about Eugene Hsu, a guy I've gotten to know a little over the last year as our social media paths have crossed. He's moving to Seattle to go work for the Cheezburger Network, the company that makes sure you have funny cat photos and FAILblog entries to look at every day.
And on Saturday, I had a piece in the paper about batteries, a kind of primer about the basics of AAs, cell phone and laptop batteries, a subject I'd always been curious about but had never done any real research about.
And on the NPR blog, I shared my top video games of the year. I finally finished the single-player campaign of Modern Warfare 2 last night and it didn't change the standings one bit.
I have a few more stories running in the next week or two that I'll link to as time and sleep permit. It was a crazy few weeks trying to get everything done, but I'm officially on leave from work for several weeks. At least this time, I know a lot more about what to expect.
