Epic podcasting, quizzing and more
It's been a very busy week, but also lots of fun. Lilly's getting as excited as we are about the new baby (maybe I'm just projecting, but it seems that way). She's been more fun in general -- chatty and silly and just very entertaining. I know lots of parents say that about their kids, but she makes me laugh a lot and recently mocked me at the dinner table. I didn't know two-year-olds could make fun of their dads with a relatively high degree of sophistication. She was clearly enjoying it.
The family time has made it a little tougher to come home late from work or work on other projects, but I'm plugging away. I plan to take some real time off after the birth in December and, as I mentioned before, we're taking a short break from Trailers Without Pity as well. I haven't figured out how I'm going to juggle NPR segments yet or planning for next year's South by Southwest Interactive, which we usually start mapping out in January, but I'm working on these things.
This week's All Tech Considered is about TV on the Web (and back on the TV), a subject we've talked about before. The landscape seems to change daily, so an update was in order. Lots of cool stuff happening. You can hear the audio segment here.
I also worked on a small project for NPR Music about music-related start-up companies. It was going to be a match-the-company thing, but it ended up becoming a "Real/Not Real" quiz. You can find that here (and on the music blog itself here).
We did a massive, nearly 1.5-hour podcast about social media pet peeves for Age of Lasers this week on Episode 003. Our special guest was Tara Ariano, who knows a thing or two about annoying people on the Internet. It's really fun and hope you have time to listen to it.
