NPR grab bag and more
I had one of those weeks at work where you just feel yourself drowning and drowning and every e-mail seems to push you further down.
Then I made sure to go to bed early enough to get a decent night's sleep, worked from home the next day (today), and suddenly everything felt 10 times saner. I don't know if it was the sleep (probably) or the working from home (possibly), but everything that seemed frustrating and overwhelming suddenly seemed doable and OK.
Like this blog entry, which I've been putting off all week.
I don't want to be that blogger guy who complains that he doesn't have time to blog, because I don't do that. This blog doesn't feel like work, so I won't complain about it like it's work. But I do miss having the time to write long entries, post lots of photos and just share what's in my head in a way that's not meant for mass-publication in a media outlet. That kind of personal stuff now seems to get scattered to the four winds.
(That's a very weak kind of complaint, I now see. Sorry for that.)
I still want post pics from New York City and some videos from Austin City Limits Fest and tell you so many other things. I will do that, if it kills me. But let me get this out of the way, first:
This week's NPR segment was another grab bag, but for some reason felt a lot more relaxed than previous ones recently. Maybe I'm just getting used to the newish format a little. It's in two parts (Part one. Part two), with me in the second. Here's the blog entry that goes with it.
Once again, I'm discussing scanning in business cards, a process for me that is ongoing. In fact, I just went to a happy hour last night where I was given several more. It's a project that will never end, like a rail system in Central Texas.
I have a few stories coming up in the Statesman that I'll link to and there's the matter of a billboard and a TV commercial, but I need to save that story for another day or two. Trust me, it's a good story.
Now that I feel like things are back under control (but for how long?) I feel confident I'll get to it all. It's a good feeling.
