Internet addiction? No thanks, I've already got one
We spent the weekend in New York City -- it was our first time away from Lilly (that was rough) and the last time we plan to travel for a while, so it was a very bittersweet trip. We ate a lot, stayed at a very nice hotel, did some shopping and saw some friends and it was everything a weekend trip could possibly be. I'll post some photos and bits about it very soon, but right now I just wanted to mention a few things that are in the news and that I'm responsible for.
Despite the Labor Day holiday, public radio doesn't stop. I was in Austin today to record the All Tech Considered segment for today. The main bit was about Internet addiction and a new clinic in Seattle to deal with it. My contribution was the two-way afterward which touched on the topic, but also discussed other tech bits of the week including The Beatles: Rock Band. You can find the blog entry that goes with these pieces right here.
The Beatles game has been on my mind a lot lately. I got a copy of it and just started playing it on Sunday after the trip. I wrote a preview piece about it for tomorrow's paper. My co-worker Rob Villalpando also did a great interactive piece about the game's instruments, and on Wednesday I'm hosting the first official Digital Savant meet-up where we'll be giving away a copy of the special edition set.
If you're in the Austin area, you can RSVP for the event at the above link. It should be fun. I don't know what to expect, but I'm excited that people will get a chance to see the game for themselves because if you have even the slightest bit of interest in The Beatles, I think you'll love the game.
More soon. It's going to be a really busy week.
