I was really excited when we figured out the timing of the James Cameron Avatar trailer release would allow us to turn around one of our videos quickly. Then I watched the trailer.
My brain went, "What the Hell are we gonna do with that?"
The original plan was for Pablo and myself to hit the IMAX theater and see the full 16-minute preview, but we didn't get tickets and the logistics just didn't work out. Which left us with the regular, 2-D trailer online which is... problematic, I would say.
Here's what we thought. If I had to sum it up in two short words, I'd say, "It blue."
We invited four people to come to the Statesman and talk about their smartphones. They are owners of a BlackBerry Curve, an iPhone 3GS, T-Mobile G1 and Palm Pre. It was pretty cool to get their different perspectives in a piece we kept informally calling The Smartphone Smackdown.
There wasn't a lot of smacking down, but it was a good chat.
I also wrote a story about a pillow maker (no, for REAL!) for our Masters of Their Domains series. Deborah Main is incredibly talented and it was all I could do not to buy all of the pillows she showed me, take them home and have the greatest nap ever recorded in human history.
But, as she will tell you herself, they are quite expensive.
What else happened: I saw the new LCP show on Saturday (it was great!) and "Wicked" yesterday (also great!) so my head is filled with all kinds of stagecraft and creativity right now.
I'm going to New York City later this week. I'm sure we'll have lots to talk about.
