Monsters and aliens and an alien
Several TWOPpy things to share. Our new episode of Trailers Without Pity, covering Monsters vs. Aliens was posted this week.
(Or you can view it below):
The every-two-weeks schedule is actually working out very well and is giving us just the right amount of time to put these together -- one week for scripting and doing the voice recording, the second week to do visuals and edit video.
Also, Smallville is back from winter hiatus. Yay? The first episode back was actually pretty good; it was written by comic book dude Geoff Johns.
My Troubles Are Legion -- Three members of the 3009 Legion of Super-Heroes pay Clark a visit and help him stop Brainiac, who has taken over Chloe's body. Sadly, it turns out that a thousand years doesn't make superheroes any less goofy or predictable.

Inaugural
I did a couple of stories this week related to the inauguration, including an NPR segment about whether the cell phone lines were going to be completely jammed in D.C. (Turns out they held up for the most part, but I'm still hearing that people had a lot of trouble making calls and posting to Twitter).
The NPR segment is split online intp two parts: in the first they talked about the problem and in the second, they talked to me about cell phone network infrastructure. Exciting times! Or you could just check out the NPR Tech Podcast, where all my stuff tends to appear weekly.
For the Statesman, I sat at my desk and poked around online for a story I wrote with Diane Holloway about the TV and Web viewing of the inauguration.
Of course it's no substitute for being there, but witnessing historic events in a newsroom with journalists who've seemingly seen it all is cool in its own way.
Then on Tuesday night, I sorta-hosted a local so-called E-nauguration party with an Austin group called Geek Austin. That's it's own whole story I tell here, along with photos.
A photographer at the event posted much better photos at her Flickr account and I appear in a few of them. My allergies were through the roof. I'm sure that's the only reason I look a little puffy.
