I thought there was no way I'd get the Smallville recap done on time this week given that I was going to Austin City Limits festival. Fate sort of intervened, if you could call it that: I got really sick at the festival (dust, allergies, flu, I don't know what; I'm still sick) so I ended up skipping Sunday at the fest completely.
I missed Gnarls Barkley, Silversun Pickups and Foo Fighters. I'm very bitter.
But it did give me enough time at least to finish the recap by Monday in a state of grumpy stuffiness.
It just got posted:
Bus-ted! -- A bus explodes in Metropolis, but there's no bomb, just a scared girl with meteor powers. Good thing Clark just started his new job at The Daily Planet and is there to investigate. I mean, good for Clark. It's terrible for journalism.
I don't think I mentioned this before: my brother and I officially signed the contract for the show we've been working on all summer.
I don't think anyone's gonna come after us if I tell you these details: the show is for Television Without Pity, as if you couldn't have guessed, and if everything works out like we want it to, the first one should be up in just a few weeks. You'll hear about it as soon as it appears online, I promise.
That's what we're busy doing right now instead of drawing comics about monkeys in space or playing lots of video games.
Yesterday at the fest, I got to see some great acts, but it was too much of a good thing: today I feel like complete crap and I think I'm going to have to skip Gnarls Barkley, Foo Fighters and Silversun Pickups.
Lots of people have come down with "ACL Flu" from the dust and heat. It's not nearly as bad as it was when we went two years ago and you literally couldn't see across the park because of the thick dust. But it was bad enough to send my allergies into overdrive and I think I might have been catching a cold at the same time. We spent a lot of time sitting yesterday and I must have blown my nose about 100 times. It was a great time, but also completely miserable. At least the excellent food court food (gourmet Austin restaurants servicing amazing food) made up for some of that.
I did shoot some photos and a video (below) of Erykah Badu and Sharon Jones and Dap Kings. Both were great sets and I was able to get my nicer SLR camera into the festival.
