'sup Homie?
The Latino men of Friday Night Lights perform a short one-act for you:
Latino #1: 'Sup homie? Latino #2: Nuthin' dawg, what's up with you, homie? Latino #1: Aw, man, just got out the joint, dawg. Latino #2: For reals, homie? Latino #1: Yeah, dawg. And when I got out? Guess who died, homie. Latino #2: Your homie, homie? Latino #1: Naw, dawg. My dog, dawg. Latino #2: Daaaamn, homie. Latino #1: I know, dawg. We should go steal some stuff, homie. Latino #2: Yeah, dawg. I mean, "Homie."

A gathering of the wits
My dad mentioned around New Year's that I hadn't updated Terribly Happy since Christmas Day. I was shocked to discover that he was right. Then I was even more shocked to find that two weeks after that, the blog cupboard is still bare.
I've been working on (as in thinking about writing the first paragraph of...) a New Year's entry, looking back on last year and what a crazy-ass time it's been. Maybe nobody wants to read that. That's cool. You're excused. But I feel I need to write it, if only to clear up my state of mind, which is good, but also sort of wiggy a lot of the time these days.
You know when someone says, in a frazzled state, that they need to gather their wits? Well my wits are all over the fucking place. There are wits on the wall, wits in the couch cushions, wits all under the bed collecting dust bunnies. My wits are scattered like little pellets and I need a big mind-broom to scoop them up and make them... do whatever it is that gathered pellets must do.
So. I will write the entry I've been promising myself, just not right this minute. Wits need a-gatherin'.
In the meantime, here's the newsy, not-as-interesting stuff that I've been meaning to post but haven't been able to push through the logwitjam that's been clogging up the works. Please excuse the brazen pimpery:
I was almost on NPR a third time, to talk about Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD (a topic I am overly familiar with, having purchased an HD-DVD drive for the Xbox a mere day or two before the crushing Warner Bros. announcement). But they found someone at the Consumer Electronics Show to talk to instead. So I didn't get the NPR hat trick (it's public radio, so they actually call it a "Tote Bag Trick").
I wrote a story about a company called Shangby.com that's doing some interesting Internet/China shopping thing. Go check it out if you like jewelry. Or China. Or Chinese jewelry.
Today, we posted a new Space Monkeys! comic. Yes, we still do this comic. Just not as often.
We're updating entries twice a day Monday through Friday on Videogamey. I worried at one point whether we would burn ourselves out, but it turns out videogames are an inexhaustible source of material.
There's no Terribly Happy Best of 2007 CD this year, sorry. I knew last year at this time that a baby was coming (little did YOU know, ha ha!), and that was a big reason why I decided to put the kibosh on the project after the '06 edition. I may still post a list here of stuff I liked last year for easy downloading, but I am confident that you are listening to awesome music right now anyway and don't need me to point you in the right direction. Just go buy Back to Black and In Rainbows if you haven't already and you'll be fine.
I do still have a daughter, yes, thanks for asking. She turned five months yesterday. I don't think she noticed.
And that's it for now. Brain dump soon, promise.
