Gael has a baby!
I don't know if I'm just noticing it more because it happened to us, but it feels like there are so many babies arriving, all in the same season. A close friend at work is due in a few months, another co-worker had a baby a few months before us, and lots of online friends have had babies this year. Guillermo from my comedy troupe is waiting day-by-day for Jeanie to deliver.
In our neighborhood, our across-the-street neighbors have a five-month-old and there are apparently three or four other new babies just on our street. Jokes about what's in the water abound, as you can imagine.
The nicest thing has been hearing the news from people I haven't spoken to in months or years. One of my favorite people, a Web designer friend, is due in just weeks.
Almost all are girls. It's joyous and wonderful. I try not to think let the more paranoid thoughts come, the one about how the government has somehow managed to get us all in a family way to force us to raise an army of girls who will conquer the world with Cute.
Eh, maybe that'll happen anyway.
You know how some people have a heart-shaped bed because they love to do the nasty and they think that that having a heart-shaped bed will be a self-fulfilling nookie prophesy? (A "Poonophesy," if you will.)
It sounds like the entire Bahamas are David Copperfield's heart-shaped bed.
My weecap of last night's How I Met Your Mother is up. It was definitely the best episode of the season so far, with lots of great clever stuff. The Hot/Crazy Scale alone was worth seeing it.
