Rhonda way girl
A new Space Monkeys! strip is up this morning, bright and early, for your perusal.
It had four panels and monkeys. I'm sure you have come to expect this from us.
More later today. Blogger has been kind of assy today.

Reading
What I just finished reading:
American Green: The Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Lawn. I thought this book would be fascinating and I was pretty fucking wrong. A full review is forthcoming.
What I am reading now:
The Areas of My Expertise by John Hodgman which is so damn funny I don't want it to ever end. I guess I can always watch him on Daily Show or read him on McSweeney's when I'm done with this one.

Sports TV for non-sports people like me
PJ's trying to get me hooked on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption ("PTI" to the hip) and it just might work.
I watched it for the first time and it's like watching a really good Web site, one that throws a lot of information at you, but in a smart, easily navigable way. The two guys on the show can talk like there's no tomorrow and at the end of under 30 minutes (less if you're PVR-inclined), you feel like you know a lot more about the world of sports than you did when it started. Given that I know next to nothing about athletics, it's like finding a cheat sheet in your back pocket when the jocks come calling (which, in my house, is admittedly not often).
The show has timed segments, each with a countdown, and there's a nav bar on the right side of the screen that tell you exactly what discussion they're having (say, "MARK CUBAN" or "COWBOYS") and what's coming up. You can skip past the stuff you're not interested in or watch it all and feel even smarter. It's one of the few shows I've watched that actually feels like it rightfully exists in 2006.
The TiVo is drying up. I've watched all my regular-season shows and all that's left are lots of unwatched Adult Swim shows, plus old episodes of Blow Out, City of Men, Last Comic Standing and a few HD movies that I may finally watch.

Winner!
I won a captioning contest!
Admittedly, this is a fairly new site and for all I know I was only one of three entrants, but still -- it's nice to know that if I was ever out on the street, struggling to survive, I might be able to sustain myself by going to the library, participating in onilne contests, then begging them to send me food instead of decks of cards when I won.

Monkey DDR, oral surgery
I may be extremely biased, but I quite like today's new Space Monkeys! comic.
In the news post (located due south of the comic itself), I explain my brother's surgery this morning, which involves removing four separate units of wisdom from his head. I hope he comes back with all his memory intact because otherwise there's a lot I'd have to catch him up on.
