Ill-notified
I sent out my first Notify List e-mail in several months last night. I added some new people who had asked to be on it -- if you did so and didn't get it or you used to be on the list and didn't get anything, drop me a line, because I had quite a few bouncebacks this time from people whose addresses may have changed.

Greatest headline ever?
Probably not, but I think it's pretty damned good.

Success! (?)
I'm over at The Hideout. We got an early start on some work for next week, so I was able to knock off a bit early and get some alone time before a meeting I have to go to later tonight.
I ran into an improv troupe from New Orleans that relocated to Austin last year. I'd seen them perform locally and wished them luck. They're performing here tomorrow night and are doing a festival in Chicago soon.
It was cool to see them excited about a pending gig. The meeting we're having tonight, I think, is going to be intense. We suffered what I consider to be a major setback and we're sort of regrouping and figuring out the next step. It was sort of a shock, at least to me, because I'd kind of settled into the self-assuredness that things were going awesome and that success was imminent.
Meanwhile, another group I've been working with for a pretty long time is having a different kind of pretty amazing success and that's amazing and great to me. But I'd be lying if I said that I hadn't put my heart equally behind both ventures, believing them both to be, in their own, way, brilliant ideas powered by amazingly talented people.
I understand that not everything, even things that seem perfect, are meant to work out. Between both projects, I've invested about a dozen years total and it's tough not to feel invested and attached. It's tough to be objective and to really consider whether it's time, in the case of the struggling venture, to walk away. I don't think I can do it. I can't read a book without finishing it, even if it's awful. I can't walk out of movie. I have to see how it turns out. I have to see if my hunches were true.

Dead On A Rival
New Smallville recap is up:
Flatlining -- In an episode that is in no way related to a movie starring Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland, some med students help people to die and then bring them back so that they can have boring conversations with dead relatives. Can't you just Voice-Over-IP them these days?

To add to your dictionaries
I'm very proud to say that after writing this post, I entered the word "Scatgasm" into Google and not a single hit came up.
I think I just invented a new dirty word.
I'm almost as proud of this as when I came up with cockschmoe.
