Hazy
For the last two days, I've been very fuzzy. It takes a major effort to do basic things like think at work or plan anything past a day or two from now.
I went to the gym on Monday and felt pretty good after that, but by midweek, I was having trouble sleeping and even though I think I caught up on sleep last night, I still feel cotton-headed. My eyes feel heavy and everything seems to be running just a bit slower than it's supposed to be.
This time of year is usually pretty bad for me with the cedar in the air and last week, I had the itchy eyes and sniffles I usualy associate with it. This week, the itchy eyes are gone, but I still feel that monochromatic cloud around me that usually means I'm suffering from allergies.
When this is happening, I have to really force myself to concentrate and focus, to do the things I usually do every week (work, recaps, planning meetings, rehearsals or writing meetings, commuting). Anything extra seems impossible. Last night I went to a FronteraFest show of short performances and I had to bail at intermission because I didn't think I'd be able to make my commute back home if I stayed any later.
The worst part is that it's very hard to be creative, to feel dynamic or hyper-aware, while in this haze. It's usually gone by February, if it is indeed the cedar that's causing this feeling. But January in Austin is just no good for me.

Gough drops
Not quite an exclusive, but...
I just did an interview today with Al Gough, one of the executive producers of Smallville. It's already been posted at TWOP, and for viewers of the show he did drop a few bombshells.

He got lame
A new Space Monkeys! comic is up today, about the sport that I apparently am too old to play now, basketball.

The Electoral Community College
A new Smallville recap is up, and I'm officially back from hiatus:
The Manchurian Swimfan: A girl obsessed with Lex Luthor tries to derail Bo Duke's senatorial campaign so that her bald hero will win. Also, Superman does some stuff, but it's not as exciting as a Kansas state senator election. Riveting!

Flavor day
I will admit to having no idea what "Chocolate New Orleans" means, but can we please, pretty-please have Butterscotch Austin on Fridays? I'll even bring my own spoon!

Funny genes
My brother's current AIM Away message:
Me (in Wimpy voice): I'd gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. Guy: Today's Tuesday, Pablo. Me (Wimpy voice intact): Fuck.

MLK Day
It was a three-day weekend, but it sure didn't feel like one with all the rushing around, visiting with friends and work on a new Smallville recap I was doing.
Monday flew by completely. I woke up a little later than usual, listened to the Howard Stern revelations over my bagel breakfast and then, boom, it was noon already.
I'd watched the brilliant MLK episode of The Boondocks the night before and had it in my head that I should do something to commemmorate Dr. King. I ended up recapping all day, having a late lunch with my parents, then going to the gym.
By the time Rebecca got home from work (yes, her employers are RACIST!), we were so tired we plopped down and watched Sunday night's two episodes of 24. Within the first 10 minutes I was all emotional and upset because in between doing Allstate commercials, President Palmer got iced. I went, "Noooooo!" Whups. Should have spoiler-warned you on that one.
Anyway, I figure that I got all emotionally bent out of shape and mournful for at least one great black (albeit fictional) leader on Monday, and I don't think Dr. King would be too upset about that.
